Pfizer COVID vaccine approved for ages 5-11

November 2nd, 2021 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation that children 5 to 11 years old be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded the Emergency Use Authorization of the Pfizer vaccine down to age 5 years.

We know many families (and our office) have been waiting for this approval, and we are working diligently on being able to offer the COVID vaccine for ages 5-11 in the office as soon as possible. We announced a large COVID vaccine clinic for ages 5-11 in partnership with the governor’s Vaccines for All program at our office through MyChart and on our website, and we are aware it filled very quickly. You can still sign up for the waitlist. We are glad so many people are excited for the vaccine!

Please be patient as we work out the details for further COVID vaccination times to offer our patients. We will keep you updated via MyChart, our website and social media as more appointments become available. Please limit calls to the office regarding COVID vaccines for ages 5-11, as we will communicate as appointments become available and we are able to scale up vaccinations.
